Welcome to Martin E. Young School

Hello Families: Welcome to the 2016 – 2017 school year!

We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer, spending time with family and friends. We are very excited to welcome students back. Students in grades 1 – 5 will start on Tuesday, August 30th and our Kindergarten students will begin on Tuesday, September 6th.

This year we will continue to focus on developing the Growth Mindset of our all students. We believe that with effort and support that all students, and adults, are life-long learners and that our brains and abilities are constantly developing.
We celebrate Bucket Filling which demonstrates our core character traits: responsibility and respect; friendship and loyalty; kindness and caring; self-control; diligence and perseverance; honesty; courage; fairness; citizenship; and sportsmanship/teamwork.
Young School prides itself on having high academic expectations for all students and a caring community.

With families as our partners, we invite you to be part of the Young School. Our library, classrooms, and cafeteria always benefit from additional adult presence; please volunteer your time!. We invite you to become active in our PTO. Whether you are able to come to school often or not, we appreciate the support you provide by sending your child to school each day, on-time, ready and excited to learn.
Please continue to check back here, on our website, for important date reminders, photographs that show life at our school, and for resources to support your child’s development.

- Supervised time at school begins at 8:15. Grades 4/5 meet in the back lot, grades K – 3 meet on the playground.

- Breakfast is served 8:15 – 8:30.

- Students line up at 8:30 and are brought to their classrooms. Any student not in class at that time will be marked tardy.

- The instructional day begins at 8:40. Dismissal is at 3:15. Grades K – 3 dismiss from the playground doors and grades 4/5 dismiss from door #3.

- Consistent with the district’s wellness policy, food will not be an incentive for prizes and for celebrations. We encourage pencils or a family coming to school for a special project. Cake, cupcakes, and other sweets are not allowed at school for celebrations.

Should you have any questions or need assistance, please call our Main Office at 781 961 6256.

We look forward to a terrific school year!

Thank you.
