Welcome to Martin E. Young School

Hello Families:

Welcome to the 2017 – 2018 school year!

We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer, spending time with family and friends. We are very excited to welcome students back. Students in grades 1 – 5 will start on Tuesday, August 29th and our Kindergarten students will begin on Tuesday, September 5th.

Young School has a strong academic and social community. Simply, we expect that all students, staff and families will WORK HARD and BE KIND. Our students, staff and families work closely together so that all students can achieve at their highest level. This summer our staff has been reading Choice Words which helps us continue the work of Growth Mindset, ensuring that effort and hard work support student success.

We celebrate Bucket Filling which demonstrates our core character traits: responsibility and respect; friendship and loyalty; kindness and caring; self-control; diligence and perseverance; honesty; courage; fairness; citizenship; and sportsmanship/teamwork.

With families as our partners, we invite you to be part of the Young School. Our library, classrooms, and cafeteria always benefit from additional adult presence; please volunteer your time! We invite you to become active in our PTO. Whether you are able to come to school often or not, we appreciate the support you provide by sending your child to school each day, on-time, ready and excited to learn.

Please help me in welcoming the following new staff:

  • Kelley Breen, Assistant Principal
  • Stephanie Zdenek, Developmental Learning Center, K/1
  • Shelley Barry, grade 3

Please continue to check back here, on our website, for important date reminders, photographs that show life at our school, and for resources to support your child’s development.

Should you have any questions or need assistance, please call our Main Office at (781) 961-6256.

We look forward to a terrific school year!

Thank you.

Ms. Hosmer, Principal                                    Ms. Breen, Assistant Principal
